View Full Version : Name two things you like most about yourself

01-23-2005, 09:29 PM
Ok. I am pretty new here, even though I have obviously posted enough across the boards to earn the title of a regular. That in itself is telling!:eek

I am a refugee from WritersNet, and the only thing I miss about it is the forum called Smoko, for they talk about most anything under the sun.

It' Sunday morning, everyone in the house is asleep but me, and I feel like being chatty. But the only real action is in the PA thread.

This forum was described as anything not related to writing, so I posted the above question. Maybe some other Sunday early birds will join me here.

I guess first I must answer the question I posed to everyone else. But I didn't think of my own answer before I typed in the question, so, let me see.

mmmmhhhh, Maybe I should have thought of an easier question?8o

My sense of humor and my tenacity.

Ok, your turn.

01-23-2005, 10:21 PM
Wow, Denise, that's a hard one. If you'd asked what two things I hate about myself, I could probably give you a hundred. I guess the two things I like about myself are these:

My strength in the face of adversity. I've had some rough knocks, but I know that whatever happens, I'll always be okay.

My loyalty. I am deeply loyal to my friends and family.

Good, thought provoking thread.

Enjoy your peace and quiet today!

Just two? I can go on all day making the list.

(Really, I believe in positive thinking. If you can't tell youself something good about yourself all day, then you're not loving yourself enough)

Sense of humour and tact (though one or two folks might argue my grasp of the latter.) :)

01-23-2005, 11:27 PM
I like my determination and (usual) goodnaturedness.

Hmm. Maybe I just used a non-word there, but oh well.

You know, maestro, I have to completely agree with that. There was a time that I had the hardest time accepting complements without explaining them away. It's hard to get over that and what you said too. But it is oh-so-worth it!

01-23-2005, 11:40 PM
Interesting question.

I would say my intelligence and sense of humor.

01-23-2005, 11:46 PM
Maestro is right. If I am in a bad mood, usually brought on by rejection in some form, usually attached to my writiing, :eek I can turn that around pretty quickly by telling myself to be gentle with me, that I am a great person, and smiling, scientifically proven to change your brain waves, or something scientificy like that!;)

01-24-2005, 12:32 AM
Good question. I like what maestro said, but I do have trouble telling myself good things about me. Two of my "good" qualities, hmmmm. I'm loyal to my family, sometimes too loyal, and I enjoy helping others reach their goals.

01-24-2005, 07:24 AM
I hope most of us like ourselves enough to find at least two things. Loyalty to others, family and friends alike or you receive none in return and............................................, that's hard. I guess the willingness to try anything-even writing that first novel.

I think it's probably more along the lines of conditioning. We're taught not to brag too much, so a lot of times we don't say anything at all, even when we're justified in saying it.

01-25-2005, 01:50 AM
This is difficult in that it feels like bragging, though it shouldn't.

Definitely my sense of humour. I LOVE to make people laugh.

And my sense of compassion. Bill Clinton's got nuttin' on me for feeling the pain of others. I say 'ow' when my wife bangs her elbow.

01-25-2005, 03:34 AM
I like my generosity and my unique-ness.

It took me a while to embrace the latter quality, but now it is the one I am most proud of.

01-25-2005, 04:09 AM
1. Weigh with words
2. Flip flop socks

01-25-2005, 07:08 AM
Bragging be damned.

My two things...

I'm gorgeous. And I'm also gorgeous.

There. You're happy now?

01-25-2005, 08:15 AM
You are quite a cutie! 8o (don't worry, I have kids your age!)

01-25-2005, 11:15 AM
There. You're happy now?
lol. There ya go! :)

01-25-2005, 05:07 PM
I have to agree with you there, Ray. I checked out your website, and yep--you're a hottie!

01-25-2005, 11:49 PM
My empathy -- sometimes I understand another person's motives so well that I surprise us both.

My likelihood to be willing to apologize first unless you are my husband in which case it was all your fault why should I apologize unless you did last time in which case it must be my turn so okay, I'm sorry.

I wanna change mine!

I'm better looking than Ray and I sometimes tell the truth.

01-26-2005, 01:58 AM
I'm better looking than Ray....
Well, many of you know I'm Ray's twin brother. Just don't tell his -- I mean our -- mom that she has a 5'6" 240lb red-headed Irish son living in the mountains of Canada.

01-26-2005, 12:27 PM

My good qualities: I'm loyal, and I've recently discovered the secret to success: Well-groomed eyebrows.

I swear.

Julia Roberts' career took off after she trimmed hers down.

So did mine.

Therefore, it is a fact.

Thinner eyebrows = success.

I'll scan a recent shot someday soon.

Here's a recent shot of me:

Two things I like best about myself?

That hair gel.

That cool cool breeze.

HConn--I like a guy who isn't afraid to wear a skirt. Very nice! But I do miss the coconut shells.

I like my curiosity and also that I'm a bit goofy.

01-26-2005, 08:45 PM
HConn, you are a hoot! :lol

01-27-2005, 07:02 AM
I have a sweet, kind nature - and I can drink almost everybody under the table.

01-27-2005, 07:13 AM
I don't want to know how you drink someone...

01-27-2005, 02:02 PM
I don't want to know how you drink someone...

Atlanta Nights explains that for you.

Next time we go for drinks with arrowqueen, remind me to wear my kilt.

I can drink almost everybody under the table

Okay, dammit! How come nobody every lets ME count that as a virtue???

01-27-2005, 08:51 PM
I'll toast to that, Mac!:smokin

01-28-2005, 06:13 AM
Come to Scotland. It's considered a virtue here.

01-28-2005, 11:40 PM
Question here.... Are behinds considered 1 or 2 items....
need to know first before I answer..

01-29-2005, 12:07 AM
This thread...restores my faith in humanity, it does.

01-29-2005, 01:31 PM
Biotales: same as breasts...

01-30-2005, 12:44 AM
Does that answer my question?
It is saturday and I am confused....

01-30-2005, 04:40 AM
Are behinds a collective noun or are they not? And if so, so what?

01-31-2005, 09:10 AM
my sense of humor

my fat a--, um, my eyebrows

01-31-2005, 11:57 AM
Ummm. Let's see. I hate this kind of question, but...

My sense of humor

My compassion

(and if I can pick #3, my smiley collection!!)

01-31-2005, 11:31 PM
HConn--I like a guy who isn't afraid to wear a skirt. Very nice! But I do miss the coconut shells.
I think the coconuts are under the skirt, Mac. :eek

02-01-2005, 12:19 AM
This thread needs a thread killer.

Which brings me to the question at hand.

My ability to end threads with absurd commentary is one and two would be this bleeding romantic heart I've tried to toss away so many times it has come back stronger like some kind of mutant pest.

02-03-2005, 11:41 AM
<<<Sense of humour and tact (though one or two folks might argue my grasp of the latter.)>>>

Hmm...uh... ermm...Got it! I can spell humour and tact...does that count?

Nice "u" in that humour Liam! My columns are getting to ya. ;)

02-03-2005, 02:43 PM
Right now I am liking my Blog
and the courage it took me to start it.

Tomorrow I may like my toenails and the dimples on my knees

02-04-2005, 02:43 AM
Hey, Liam!

Frank, are you Canadianizing the big guy? Next thing you know, he'll be cheering for the Maple Leafs. :b

02-04-2005, 05:25 AM
Oh that's a hard one..I would have to say:

My sense of HUMOUR and honesty. :x :rollin

02-07-2005, 11:42 PM
Hmmmm, I'd have to say I'm kind and smart. :p

02-08-2005, 01:13 AM
now it's time for statistics! what's the most self-liked quality of writers, given this random sample survey?

i'm guessing sense of humor, but i'm too right-brained to do the math. or is that left?

oh hell--I thought it was ability to hold our booze...

02-09-2005, 01:00 AM
Stay away from the "February is get healthy month" thread, Mac. It puts booze in a very unflattering light.

Booze is kinda like an unbalanced though functioning person. Relaxed and charming, even cute at first. A pleasant aquaintance. But when you really get to know him, he gets mean, and now you really don't want him around anymore, only he's stalking you. And you can't shoot him. Dang.

I come up with strange notions when I have PMS. I just realized that today.

02-09-2005, 01:20 AM
oh hell--I thought it was ability to hold our booze...

I bladder is the size of a shot glass....

Pink, I like that description!!

You should write more when you're PMS'ing :rollin

02-09-2005, 04:56 AM
Aw shucks. :D

(But y'know, I do have four brand new Word files, each under 500 words, started on my desktop right now. Only one of which is title "Worthless Piece of Crap." Of course I hate each of them equally.)

02-09-2005, 09:33 AM
Now that was funny!

02-10-2005, 12:10 AM
Stay away from the "February is get healthy month" thread, Mac. It puts booze in a very unflattering light.

Don't fret. I am keeping booze a part of the February thread. Just because you like to chug brews doesn't mean somewhere deep inside, hiding behind your oversized liver, there isn't a little bastion of hope to become a tad healthier. Then again, as far as I know, nobody lives behind your liver.

Only one of which is title "Worthless Piece of Crap."
I have a journal stating there are 500 pages in it. I have edited the cover to state, "500 pages of worthless drivel I'm too embarrassed to throw away and too frightened to read again, yet." I have an icon on the desktop labelled Write Something! It doesn't work. It just sits there until XP reminds me I haven't used it in so long we might as well give it the boot.

02-10-2005, 05:23 AM
I think you're right, pkpk. I do believe the number one response in this thread has been "sense of humour".

And the number one thing we like about Zaz is his liver. http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/newpage36/3.gif
