I signed with Rachel Vater at Lowenstein-Yost earlier today...still hasn't really sunk in, but man am I celebrating when I get off work.

08-16-2006, 02:20 AM
Holy hell! That's tremendous! Congratulations and celebrate. Now.

08-16-2006, 02:23 AM

How stupendous! Congratulations, and many happy sales!

Yeah, I was following R. Vater's blog, too. Kind of surreal to wander over here later and discover your news. How does it feel to be blogged about from an agent's perspective?

heh heh...guess i'll be following your blog now, too!

P.S. I'm bragging about you in this week's AW newsletter. It was freakin' adorable to go read Rachel's blog and see how excited and nervous she was about you. That's a side of agents we pretty much never get to see. Way to go on writing something special enough to invoke those kinds of feelings. I hope she'll find you an editor with the same kind of enthusiasm!

08-16-2006, 04:18 AM
Thanks Jenna and everyone!

And whoa, I need to sign up for the newsletter, like, now!

08-16-2006, 04:20 AM
:e2bouncey He's singing "I've got an agent! I've got an agent!" I've been practicing the dance, but had no call to use it, yet. Huge congratulations. :e2woo:

Caitlin, that's wonderful, fantastic, splendiferous news! I too was following Rachel's blog, biting my fingernails for her; how great to see this story unfolding and then to actually "meet" you here!

(Biting fingernails myself!)

08-16-2006, 01:11 PM
How wonderful, Caitlin! I really, really wish for this to translate into a deal. Do keep us informed. :D

Congratulations. Read Rachel Vater's blog too and she sounded really excited about your book.

08-16-2006, 04:33 PM
What a query!!!!

It made me want to read the book.

I could feel exactly where your agent was coming from.
It's how things should be, a) if we get it right, and b) if we can actually write.

You're onto a winner and I really wish you all the best.:)

08-16-2006, 04:39 PM
Yeah, read that blog and your agent is really kicking, and I mean really kicking her heels up over your discovery. What a wonderful time for you.
I loved that comment about urban fantasy being hot right now. Just sent one to my agent.

I just read about it in the newsletter. Congratulations, Caitlin! :hooray:

08-18-2006, 11:11 AM
Congratulations! You have acheived what most of us (sigh) can only dream of.

Well, I read this with mixed feelings. Rachel probably doesn't remember me, though I did pay for a meeting with her at a N.Y. Writer's conference last Spring. Her reaction to my novel, Neitherworld, was, uh, a tad less enthusiastic. On the one hand, I am, of course, jealous, of her hot new find. On the other, it's good to see what an agent (particularly one I've met) acts like when she actually likes something. My novel has been requested by another agent and is being read now, but the odds are still long. Anyone interested can read the first 7,500 words here:

It got three stars on Authorlink. Shameless plug, I know...but being humble isn't helping.

08-19-2006, 03:23 AM
Wonderful news. Congratulations.

08-19-2006, 06:05 PM
Oh Wow! Congratulations Caitlin! This is the way it's supposed to work. And my apologies for being so late. I have to keep explaining that I'm catching up on things after computer problems.

08-19-2006, 11:50 PM
:hooray: Congratulations...

I finally got to my newsletter today and just read the blog...WOW! Now if only I could catch an agent's attention like that.

Could you pass the cake? I brought champagne :e2drunk:

Good Luck!

Congratulations Caitlin! That must be a very good feeling, and I hope to feel it one day myself. Urban fantasy, eh? Keep up the good work!
