I was thinking about the 'not in the mood thread and what I do when I'm just not in the mood to write a scene that needs to be written. My answer is music.

There are just some pieces that move me and I change them for the slow/soft love scene and the down and dirty raw animal sex scene.

Does anyone else do this?

If so what do you listen to?

Here are some of my favorites:
(Two are from the Romeo and Juliet Soundtrack, clearly I was molded at an impressionable age when I saw that movie)

Down and Dirty
#1 Crush- Garbage
Excess- Tricky

Slow and Soft
Kissing you- Des’ree
Everybody’s Fool- Evanescance

There are many more but these are the ones I am using for my WIP.

When I have to write the down and dirty stuff, I like to listen to anything by Kid Rock or the cd "15" by Buckcherry...especially their song "Crazy B!tch".

But when I need something more mellow, I usually cue up 3 Doors Down, Nickleback or the "X" cd by Def Leppard.

I usually write w/ music on. I don't pick music to match what I'm writing.

When I'm really focused on what I'm doing, I pick music with hard bass like hip hop, old school rap, or drum 'n bass. I listen to a lot of different genres, so it just depends on what day it is.

Today: AFI, Garden State soundtrack, Zero 7
