Thekherham

Hi, my name is Thekherham (it's pronounced Tee kee' rahm). If that's too long you can shorten it to Thek (Teek).

I've been writing for mumbety-mumble years (o.k. a long time) and I haven't published anything yet. Yeah, I know. Mostly crap. I wrote one really long, crappy novel that's sitting in a box on top of a book shelf (410,000 crappy words). I'm working on another one right now which I hope will lead to a sale... What am I saying? I've written several shorter stories, some poetry...

Eventually I hope rto get published but I'm not holding my breath or wishing upon a star. If it happens it happens.

Anyways, that's all I want to say for now. I'm going to put on my hiking boots and explore the rest of the forum.

hey Thek!

Welcome to the forum! I'm active only recently but I have been popping in for more than 6 months now...

And I'm amazed that you have finished a >400k-word novel and haven't started editing! (or marketing!) Is it because you aren't interested in getting published ( I know there are people who write for pleasure) or because you aren't aware of the exhausting procedure that leads to publication???

I'd love to critique your novel and give you my suggestions (for free, of course). I'm a proffesional researcher and writing instructor, so I'm qualified to critique :)

You can write to me anytime at [email protected].

Hey Thek,

Welcome to these forums. You'll find a lot of useful stuff here. Personally, I can't imagine writing a whole novel and not trying to sell it. I really admire you for that.

But I think, you should really give it a shot. Sure, you might end up with a few rejections. But who knows-- you might actually make it!

Good Luck and Happy Holidays!

Mamma,
I was itching to ask you about it, but figured you had changed the quote or that i had misread it the first time!

Well glad that's cleared up!

Thank you all for the welcome.

silentriddler, I wrtoe this novel quite a few years ago, but the reason I haven't done anything with it is because I think it's... er, a piece of pornographic puke, as it were. I don't know if I can salavage anything, like maybe characters or dialogue or... Who knows? There are 410,000 words to play with...

Mridu, the novel I'm working on now is the one I hope to send to a publisher, but first I'll have to finish it, and then I'll have to do some editing.

Tee-kee? Ummm, just Thek, please. Sorry, I didn't mean to get so picky, mammamaia.

Hi, Ana, and rtilryarms.

Hey, rtilyarms, you mean you write 400K sentences?
What do your paragraphs look like? lol.

mammamaia

mea culpa!

"Tee-kee? Ummm, just Thek, please. Sorry, I didn't mean to get so picky, mammamaia."

...won't happen again, 'thek'!

Welcome, Thek.

Like you, I have vast amounts of unpublished writing I do not send out for the same reasons you gave. Also like you, I have been writing for mumblety-mumblety years. You're funny! Most of mine now has been disposed of, and no longer lurks on the top shelves. You appear to have a good cadre of welcomers already, but please just know that if you need assistance, support, help, criticism or conversation in any way, I would be most proud to contribute.

If you are interested in American long-fiction writing style, you can do much worse than read the thread called "Learning Writing with Uncle Jim" in the Novels board herein. It may give you ideas for editing your current work. I for one am intrigued and enthusiastic to find out about what you've done.

I am sorry, however, about one thing. I wrote so much crap previously that I just think it's doubtful that there was that much left for you to produce. Hence some of your work must be more meritorious than you think! Sorry to disappoint you.

But delighted to have you on board. This forum has many good people who want to help however they're suited. Maia, this person's real name is Thekherham. And, after all, we are all just visitors. Maia got off to a very bad start with you, but I am sure she'll apologize profusely when she realizes it. You having already forgiven her, it is all a bit pointless now, but never mind.

As far as Mike goes, the one called rtyarms or whatever that is, he is actually the one we use for target practice. That explains a lot in his case.

You say you are an auburn fox with a bushy tail. I have a serious professional interest in bushy tails. You may want to post a personal photo in that regard. You also say you are symbiotic with a dragon. If so, please leave him (or it) out of the pic. I am allergic to dragons, and they have bad breath.

Now, excuse me while I go be serious somewhere else. Hi Jen!

"Maia, this person's real name is Thekherham."

Re: hey, qatz!

Sorry I haven't been here in a while, but I've been rather busy with all sorts of different things.

I had that description in some other role-playing forums and I'm too lazy to change it. By the way, that should be a fox-like alien, not a fox. And not all dragons have bad breath; you just haven't met any with nice-smelling breath lol.
And she is not an Earth dragon, so you could call her a pseudo-dragon.

Thekherham is actually the name of the main character in a couple of novels I'm wri... trying to write. I liked the name so I decided to take it as a username for different forums.

I'm just your plain, ordinary human, married, with three kids (girls) who loves to write science fiction, fantasy, and occasionally dabbles in poetry.

As for the name pronunciation I think once you know how it is pronounced then there shouldn't really be any problem.
