The Dud Avocado by Elaine Dundy

Has anyone read The Dud Avocado by Elaine Dundy, first published in 1958?
Sally Jay Gorce is a young American in Paris, hellbent on living, as the blurb says. We follow her escapades and drama for a year. I just finished it, and would like to hear other people view on the book.

It struck me as a chick lit of the fifites, Sally Jay being the Bridget Jones of a previous generation - just a tad more vivacious. I enjoyed it, and yet, it didn't really grab me or kept me captivated.
