There's something about
a red bucket of chickens
dazed by Spray and Wash
beside the white washing machine

Oh no, you didn't go there...

So much depends
on my blue can of beer
next to my black monitor
above my tan delete key.

Its unkind to hook me like that

So much I've left
undone

black coffee
untouched

bereft of
creamer

hot beside the
fresh pot

chickens have no lips
thus
they can't give me lip service

Good poem! I am so glad I inspired someone today.

Hey! another chicken person/poet! I love your poem and it inspires me with its contrast--

two
a black
a white horse
stand
switching flies
for each other
in the blue shade
of the red barn
on a gold autumn
morning.

for the white chicken
so much depends upon
the red rooster that it's stapled to
and whether the rooster's mother
taught it to look both ways
before it crosses the friggin' road

A Soup-Song of Chicken.

Oh, chicken soup is wonderful.
And very good for you -
but it isn't quite as healthy
from the chicken's point of view.

So let us all be thankful,
as we savour every drop.
Be grateful for the food chain -
and the fact that we're on top.

gramma's apron was
white with black dots
and red heliotropes

to help me with my learning
she asked me to spell 'spurting'
while she chopped a chicken's head

-on the event of having failed my Andrew Carnegie class -again:

There is something about the face
of the White Towered Poet
the shock of weight and waft
when handed a live red chicken.

the greying poet
inspired by vibrant tales
of chicken butchers
chose teriyake for dinner
and set the pot to boil
