A friend sent me this link. Thought I'd pass it on.

Better Sex Erotic Fiction 3 Contest (http://www.bettersex.com/driver.aspx?cookie_test=1&topic=bsu-erotic-fiction-contest-3&ADNSFProfile=9AFB4783149C08D3BB98D88C2CE07338AA9E0 89F266DEA559A9AB70D741BB6B939D8B80A73BA7C918F9FBB8 722C772660A23527F0E57EF55DBD03003883C55A8D409C88DD B03939A77112B728B38B4EBEEB18AD86C5763C60E5B384EA83 10CE514B48BD2821F95DE628EA2CE4B5C4082A5163788D7533 B61A8740C515C235A7E)

I don't see an entry fee, so it might be legit, but they are too over the top about quitting one's job to become a full time writer. :tongue

I don't really have anything that fits their criteria yet. Boo.

As usual, I'm dismayed at how mild the examples are. This is a pretty soft market, pun fully intended. I've got nothing they'll want. Hell, to me the examples aren't even erotic.

Maryn, more edgy than you'd think (woo-hoo, am I cool yet?)

I thought the same thing, and then I looked some more, and it seems that this is more of a lottery than a writing competition. Sort of like a radio station that has listeners send in a paragraph on some topic, and then they draw the winning paragraph out of a hat.

Note that the winner is determined, not on literary merit, but on votes:

Yes you should tell every friend, mother, brother, sister and people on the street to vote for your story, but only one vote per person please.

Great, a popularity contest that settles once and for all who's got the most online buddies.

Not for me.

Good luck to all who think they'll give it a go, though, and thanks to Gillhoughly for passing the info on to us erotica writers sweating and writhing in the trenches.

Maryn, who thinks she just invented a new dance

Amen. IMHO, Maryn's just telling it like it is. This deal sounds like some Gather.com concoction.

Bayou Bill
