Another lay/lie thing

The lights were the next to go out and then I lied in darkness, imagining the wetness was from Jenny's kisses.



I think the grammar's right but it reads funny.

Yep, I lay (in a horizontal position) in darkness.

I lied in darkness (I told an untruth).

I think I mentioned in the previous lay/lie post. To lie as an irregular verb (lie, lay, lain) means to be down, to be/become horizontal.

As a regular verb (lie,lied,lied) in means to say things which are untrue.

What a great line, Blue. It really makes a person wonder exactly where that "wetness" comes from. Too bad you didn't include more detail for the codgers among us. But then we might be discussing the proper use of "laid," and its many variants.
