Eek! Deer flies are the stuff of nightmares. I once got one stuck inside my t-shirt, while riding a horse no less, and got bitten half a dozen times. I thought I would die with the pain and panic (and the horse didn't much care for the panic part).

I am just outside Ottawa (at the moment).
