Junkie

To Sony/Verant

In RL I sit at the desk, soft leather on my
skin,
hard oak beneath my keyboard.
36 hours and now my eyes
burn
with an urgent plea to sleep.
The screen flickers with
pixels pleasantly arranged around my
imagination.

Online I am a hero, sometimes the rogue.
The trees are always #00AA00,
but sometimes they seem
greener.

Someone /t's me with a joke. My ears,
jealous, hear nothing.

I say I am ROFL, but it's not true. In fact
my chuckle sounds strangely like tears.

Hm. It has potential. The end part of the first stanza is where it's weak. The part with the trees is nice, along with the finish.

EQ is Everquest. A cultural phenomenon -- the first truly successful massive multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG).

At its pinnacle, Sony Corp. listed Everquest as its 7th largest line of business.

Addicts (and there were many) called it Evercrack.

Since then, there have been MANY MMORPGs. But EQ was one of the first, and definitely one of the best.

Private Messages are a way to communicate with another poster without creating needless personal threads that the rest of the community doesn't necessarily want to read.

Everything you need to know about AW things is located here.

For PMs, if you go to that person's profile, there's an area called "Contact Info" and under that you can access to that person's private messaging.

I’ve only banned one Mod in my lifetime and he’s still mad at me.

Well, I don't know, Ascheron's Call and Ultima Online both did pretty well before Everquest came around...

For the record, although this thread was "titled" Whistle..., it was carefully considered and placed here in OP as a way of encouraging others to read a bit of my geeky poetry, in order to get a better feel for who I am. I weighed simply posting this in the Poetry forum or the Share Your Work forum, but decided against both, since this was neither for review or critique, so much as character revelation, which I believe this post did admirably.

I hope the mods realize both the intent and content of the thread, then, were entirely writing-oriented, multi-reader-designed, and clever enough to deserve neither a mere PM status, nor thread-lockage.

The thing about Dclary you have to keep in mind: any and every post is made on the assumption that everyone will be reading it and making reply posts.

The titles are picked on what will be the most enticing to the general population.

This thread wasn't meant for just me, it was addressed to me in order to get the most number of people reading.

Dclary is a 4 alarm attention ho'. Whereas I am only a 3 alarm attention 'ho.
