How could he do something so stupid in a game as important as this one?!?! Whatever that Italian player said, it must have REALLY pissed him off. No fists or anything, straight to the headbutt....wow...I'm still shocked...

Well, whatever it was he shouldn't have lost himself like that.

Sad end to a great career.

He was thinking he was sick of being fouled and tripped and pushed down again and again and again. The Italians needed to neutralize him by whatever means and he was frustrated with the ref letting it go on.

He blew at the wrong time. I'm bummed.

Considering becoming a soccer hooligan,

Please don't.

But you're right, I would have been pissed off too, the Italians are quite a bunch. But, this was way out of line, no matter what was said or done.

I've always thought the guy was passive-aggressive. Quiet most of the time but if he snapped at some point it would be something like this. I was shocked though. Couldn't believe my eyes. Unbelievably stupid. Colossally stupid.

France had the better of the play, didn't deserve their penalty shot, and probably deserved a go ahead goal in OT. The Italians were playing the kind of extreme catanaccio defence they became hated for way back when. But I can live with them winning. I guess

Hmmm... was it the same guy that destroyed his shoulder?

You know, if what that guy said was that bad, I'm glad he did it. It's just unfortunate he got caught. Pride and whatnot.

Although, with Zidane, they may well have won the penalty shootout.

But no, I'm glad he did it.

More to say.

I think Zidane may be the best player in the world. Or in the top 5 at least.

But, the Italians were trying to hurt the best players. Henry was hurt badly at the beginning by what was described by an Irish commentator as 'a brick wall challenge'. So, he wasn't playing at his best.

And I would think Zidane was mightily p!ssed off by that,

so when they tried to rip his arm out of its socket, he was just waiting for an excuse to get his justice. And he got it.

A f*cking powerful headbutt though. I mean, wow.

Henry is the master of simulations. He's proven that more than once during this worldcup. This time he seemed to hurt himself truly, sure. But both, the French (yes, even the French) and the German commentator said, that the Italian guy wasn't doing anything on purpose. So..

And headbutting someone else is no justice. It's stupidity.

Well Snowflake, I disagree with that french commentator.

If it's his justice, I'm happy with it.
The victim is fine, it was himself that suffered the consequences. It's his justice.

He may have been the reason for the French to lose the Worldcup?
His absolutely amazing career as one of the Top 5 player in the world ended with red after he saw red and lost his head?

I don't see how that's justice. That's immature. And may be the reason why the darn cup isn't ours (well, theirs) :(

I wish France took home the cup too, but they were the better team.

It all depends on what the other guy said, and if it was the same one that tried to rip his arm out.

I'm sure he was proud of himself, walking past his team, his couch, the cup itself, and into the locker room at the end of what had been a brilliant match.

Then, watching his replacement blow it in the penalties.

Yup, I'm sure he felt his action was justified when he was sitting on his keister at the end of the game.

The French were better yes. That's what makes it so much worse. Because Zidane had to behave like a little boy, no responsibility, no maturity, they lost.

Maybe they would have lost anyways. Who knows. But there is this what if, and it's a big what if, as we're speaking of Zidane. And it angers me that his personal revenge was more important than his team.

It doesn't matter. Even if the Italian insulted his very own mother. Zidane was part of a team. He abandoned that team. Bad!

I know, I know.

But pride is something I believe in very strongly, and if the Italian deserved it, I'm glad he did it.

The fact that there were 2 vicious attacks on the 2 best French players, and neither of those Italians were sent off, and Zidane was... isn't fair. But Zidane didn't make any effort to hide it, like the Italians did. He wasn't sneaky.

An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.

If Henry wasn't hit so bad at the start, he would have been on top form,
and the same with Zidane.

I highly dislike an eye for an eye and so on, it's what would lead humanity into complete hate and chaos. It's low and immature.

But, just like you, I'm believing in pride too. And I do admit, this could have been one of my reactions. Just here, the team is more important than Zidane, that's what happens when you're in a team. Then the team comes first. And Zidane knows that. And if Zidane would have acted in a professional manner, he would have been in until the end.

And I don't agree with Henry having gotten hit like that, it was unfortunate, but it was not done with such evil intentions. The French showed the scene from every angle on TV and I simply didn't think it more than the usual encounters that happen during football. But, of course.. you never know.

I agree with eye for an eye in some situations.

I wouldn't have thought anything could get him riled up that bad in his last match... the World Cup final. So it must have been bad, you know?

It's not like Zidane couldn't have head-butted the guy after the game. I mean, come on! World Cup History! French win, followed by a massive full-field, full-on brawl!

That's the way to end a career. Brawling before your victory is not the way to go. Victory first, then brawl!
