The only flag I see is that authors are paid 50% of the profits. While this operation may not be exploitative, a writer would have only the publisher's word on production costs of any given project.

Forrest Gump was a hit movie, made millions, but the bean counters said it made zilch profit. Actors, production staff, and the novelist who were to get a percentage of the profits were flat out of luck. It taught me to always ask for gross, not net, in a contract.

IMO, the audience for this type of writing is going to be microscopic (compared to other genres). Intensely loyal, but small. (Profits may be small as well.) If it is what you write, terrific, but ask for gross, not net, and get it in writing. Otherwise, indie publish and pimp it on message boards and blogs that cater to an audience that loves the experimental and offbeat.
