Oh, sorry, I thought those were three choices listed for something else. Doh.

In that case... water.

Blackheart

Most people would say water. I say water too. Without a doubt.

Modern science however says wind

The link takes me to a blank page ("void.gif"). Whatever caused the erosion caused a lot of it.

How come you didn't show the pictures at the beginning of the thread?

Water does cause erosion. However I would think with the Sphyx that it wouldn't be wind alone but wind blowing sand. I would imagine a lot of sand being blown against a structure like that would cause erosion.

well. there's a difference between the two.

just something interesting i thought i'd share

Okay, well sand blowing and rain beating on it can cause it to erode.
Does it rain there? I'm unfamiliar with what desert climates are like. Though I suddenly feel the urge to break out in song.

"See I've been to the desert on a horse with no name,
It felt good to be out of the rain.
In the desert, you can remember your name,
Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain."

that's the thing. there hasn't been enough rain in that part of egypt to erode the sphinx for thousands of years, when the area was a jungle. which would make the sphinx older than science says it is. and probably not egyptian but retrofitted by egyptians with the pharoah's head later on
