Just came back from a screening of Jennifer Lawrence's "Red Sparrow." I was dubious about it beforehand; it seemed a little too similar to Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow story.

It has some problems but overall I was happy with it. I especially liked that Lawrence's Sparrow did not do most of her fighting with fists and feet and the occasional weapon the way Widow and most fem superheroes do. Instead she fights mostly with her wits and grit.

Of course others will have different takes on RS, especially the JLaw haters. But I'll buy the Blu-ray so I can see it again.

I really like Jennifer as an artist. In recent years, though, since she finished The Hunger Games , I've lost some respect for her. I don't know if I'm comfortable seeing her express a character through revealing her body and doing sexual advances. As pretty as she is, it makes me feel awkward.
