The president of the local writers' association recently told us about Amazon Kindle Scout. Has anyone here tried it?
The idea sounds kind of nice: They put up your blurb, opening pages, a little about you, and then people can vote to have the project nominated. This link goes to the "how it works" explanation:

And, for reference's sake, if I weren't thinking about Kindle Scout, my definition of "success" would be being picked up by a medium or small publisher and selling 10,000-20,000 copies and take my wife out to a fancy restaurant without feeling guilty. Of course I'd love more, but I'm obscure, and I know better than to expect to make millions on my debut.
