Forums that require a password will list the password needed in the Forum header on the top Water Cooler page.

If you are entering the password correctly, make sure your keyboard caps lock key is off and try again.

If you still can't get in, log out, be sure the cookies in your Web browser are cleared, log back in and try again.

Passwords for Protected Forums

The passwords for most protected forums are in the forum descriptions for the forum.

The password for Share Your Work is vista.

The password for Writing Poetry is citrus. You'll notice that the password is listed on the Forum header.

The password for the Polished and Ready forum, for posting the flash pieces you think you're ready to submit (with an eye to market research) is flashed. The same password, flashed, works for the Flash Fiction Challenge.

The password for Conquering Challenges is serenity.

Special Password Instructions for Erotica

The Share Your Work Erotica forum and the NC-17 Erotica subforum require a special password.
• You must request the password via a PM with a statement that you're over 21. Please don't lie.
• Send the PM to AW Admin.
• Only MacAllister or AW Admin may approve your access.

The main reason forums are password protected is to prevent "bots" or "spiders," small programs that scour the 'net for search engines, indexing pages, from caching copies of members' works.

If You're Sure You're Using the Right Password for a Protected Forum and It Isn't Working

A Special Note About Password Protected Subforums

  • You have to be logged in to access password protected forums, and you have to enter the specific password for the password protected forums.
  • If you are logged off of AW, and you click on password protected forum link, you will first be asked to enter your AW Password and ID, and then once you are logged in, you will be asked to enter the specific password for the protected forum.
