My lady friend and I watched The Big Sick (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Sick) this weekend. She suggested it, I was only mildly interested - at first.

There are no beautiful people saving the world from horrible villains or events. No big events, in fact, beyond the main event, which is the main character’s love getting so sick her doctors induce a coma to let her body better fight it. Just ordinary people dealing with several related problems. But as I watched it I became really engrossed in the story and the people in it.

It's still in the theatres, but I was able get a Blu-ray disc from Redbox. You should also be able to stream it.

I've been wanting to see this so bad. It's based on Kumail's and his wife's story which is pretty cool.

My 80 year-old neighbor suggested it, so we caught it, and thoroughly enjoyed it. :)

I liked this movie too. I thought it was funny, warm, and engaging. And it was touching, done in a non-overly-sentimental way, which is not easy to do.
