Ok, folks... at the risk of being rude and drawing too much attention to our lovely and talented resident poet, Mr. Haskins, I have to ask: does anyone actually think he's a misanthrope, as that little line under his avatar suggests?

William, feel free to defend your dislike for humankind should the need arise.

Nah. His soul is actually loving and kind. He's just a very good actor. :)

Edit: His sould is loving and kind? Do people have soulds? Why don't I read over what I write before posting it? Edited, of course, because people have souls and not soulds.

Writing is a solitary pursuit, and yet he seeks out other writers and participates on an online forum.:D

Is he just masochistic?

Possibly, but he won't stand still long enough for me to find out.:whip:

I've always pictured him as coming across like House, MD. So yes, I vote misanthrope, but all he really needs is a hug. Or a really effective stare from a CareBear.

No. Stand and fight little bear. Don't be afraid of the big bad Haskins. If you need backup, I know a couple of Ewoks that could be of assistance.

But back to the subject, people. Chop-chop.
Does hatred for humankind mean you must hate all of them?

It means you hate the human race as a whole, but not individuals.

I'll admit that humans are capable (and masters of) some pretty dispicable ****, but what about other things they've done? -- art, music, afros and rimjobs?

It's not all worth hating. I'd wager that Williams a selective misanthrope.

Haskins is simply the messageboard version of a brilliant character actor. In real life, he's really an East Coast elite Barbra Striesand fan.

:D

Pssst. Yeah, let's talk about him like he's not here.

Best bet, Zach my love, ask him yourself in private.

I figure it's an aspect of his more rounded personality--and an online role he relishes, playing it with considerable verve and gusto. (I should be writing menus, huh?) If you look, though, you can spot the scenery chewing.

Maryn, who knows Haskins is a big softie

I know -- but that's the funny part about the thread.

It's meant to tease him more than anything else.
Of course! I know that. I'm smiling. I'm just glad it's not me.

Can you imagine the rush (and squirm) of having threads dedicated to dissecting the depth of your anitpathy toward certain elements - you know, all the living, breathing, pontificating ones?

You, on the other hand, are ripe for the scalpel considering the twisty, garish wonderful work you've been churning out these days. So, who do you think disdains the groundlings more - you or Haskins?

That's hard to say, because I'm judging William's misanthropy as a projection of my own, and I'm trying to be less Narcissistic lately.

I'd say we're pretty equal. But then, I do have to admit that I'm really forkin' intrigued by all the little nasties that Man has pulled from his cauldron-pot... so even though I dislike what we're capable of, I'm fascinated by our ability and willingness to do it.

Not me. I look to both sources for that odd angle. I'm not often accused of being sunshine and light, perhaps I am coyote-light? You think?

Both of you seem much dedicated to selective appreciation of things.
