How should attachments be named on initial submission?

As long it's totally clear what the files are you're all good. Title Synopsis, Title First Three Chapters, Title Full Manuscript etc.

You shouldn't be using attachments unless requested specifically though. Don't just send attachments with a query or cover letter.

- it's normal in the UK. Most of the agencies put submission guidelines on their websites, the ones I have seen are nearly always first three chapters, sometimes with a one page synopsis.

OP, I think your naming convention is fine although personally I would use something like title.sample.doc (plus title.synopsis.doc if sending)

As attachments? They specifically ask for you to attach, not just paste?

Unless they've made other specifications, you should be fine with this.

I usually call mine [LASTNAME TITLE OF MANUSCRIPT 50 pgs].pdf or whatever. Keep in mind to also update the manuscript properties.

I'm not sure whether the OP is in the UK, but here it's very normal for agents to require attachments with the initial query.
