I bought a new leather jacket on the weekend, and found this in the pocket:

Can anyone identify it and maybe read it? The jacket is made in India, so I have a clue about the writing there, but...

Anyway, before you ask, it is writing-related now, because it's a fantastic writing prompt. I'd just like to know the specifics. It could be anything from a Vedic curse to something like "Help! I'm being held captive in a clothing factory!"

It's Hindi, which in principle I can read, but between the light pencil and the handwriting and the wrinkles on the page I can't quite make it out well enough to translate (I'm not a native speaker or anything, but I've studied the language). Any native speaker who can read Devanagari (the script) could make short work of it, I'm sure.

The paper's pretty light, so I can't be rough with it. I might try darkening the lines on the image with a graphics program.

Unless this is actual research for a novel, I'm closing it. If you're interested to find out what it says, maybe try a local library or a Hindi speaker.

For future reference, thread titles are also covered by the RYFW rule.
