Hello, I am writing a novel based on the early 18th century. I need to know the following:

- Where can I find records of the positions of naval admirals in the 18th century for the English Navy?
- Where can I find records of the Council of the West Indies, the Spanish colonial administration ran under King Phillipe V?
- Where can I find records of Spanish navy ships, aka 1715, and captain's names?

I have tried to look online but it is very difficult.

Did the British control parts of Hondorus?
By the early 18th century, were the Spanish still conducting treasure raids in the Yucutan Pensiuala?
How strong was the Mayan resistance in something like 1715?
Did Pirates often go to the Yuctuan Penisula?
Did the British often conduct spying missions into Mexico?

In God I dwell, especially in Eugene OR
Sat Nam! (Literally "Truth Name"--a Sikh greeting)

While I'm not the person to answer your main questions, I can tell you that diseases brought by the Spaniards had decimated the Mayan population by that date. There were probably some disease-resistant Mayans who were resisting the Spanish, but probably not enough for anything massive.

Sariskal, fellow traveller,

That's fine. The diseases brought by the Spaniards did decimate the Mayan population a lot, although a interesting question is why did the Maya never ever reclaim their power?

Thanks,

Siri Kirpal,

Why do you say it's difficult to find the information online?

I tried Googling exactly what you quoted and get links every time.

Just the main element from your sentences.

How strong was the Mayan resistance in something like 1715?
Where can I find records of Spanish navy ships, aka 1715, and captain's names?

Are you sure?

What exactly did you type, I've been searching wrong then.

You probably want to look at earlier history of the Maya, especially political and military organization. You will find that the downfall of the Mayan civilization was such that there was no central government or military. They didn't have the essentials for resisting anything.
