How Do I Answer this Question?

I received a full request today and was asked "if anyone in publishing has seen it, and if so, what was the response?"

I am not sure how to answer this because:

- If they mean publishing houses, I did send it to one publishing house three years ago, but that was the original draft and I have changed a lot of things since then. They obviously said no.

- If they mean agents, duh, a ton of agents have seen it. I have had full requests, and obviously they said no since I'm still doing it.

- There was one agent that loved it and couldn't stop raving about it but declined because "We've never handled paranormal before and its a tough market right now." etc.

Do I mention any of these things? Or do they just mean if any current publishing houses have it?

Thanks.

I'd say something like: Other agents have the novel, but no editors have seen it.

That way they know you've not burned any publication bridges and that other agents could still be considering your work.
