I watched it last night. I thought it was just about the worst Star Trek franchise movie ever. Plot holes you could drive any of the numerous versions of the USS Enterprise through (including the real live naval aircraft carrier), a big pile of unfollowable fast action scenes with loud noises and flashing explosions, characters flying through vast chasms of empty air, spacecraft crashing through rocks and remaining intact, and all manner of stupidity on the part of the bad guy, who not only didn't just kill Lt. Uhura when he had her captured, but proceeded to relate his story in great detail, the only reason for which had to be to relay it to the movie audience. And the humor, often a saving grace in other ST films, was minimal, predictive and lame.

It was Anton Yelchin's final performance, and, for that alone, deserved being a far better effort. Doesn't make me anxious to watch the next iteration of the franchise.

There is definitely already a thread on this movie.

Where? I saw the one titled Star Trek: Discovery, but nothing for Beyond. But if so, somebody with the authority can move my post. Won't change my opinion about this movie.
