how long to publication?

I've heard that a new literary agency will start to get works published approximately 6 months to a year after they send out writer's works. I realize that this will vary depending on genre, agent's experience, quality of clients, etc. Any thoughts on this?

An agency that's going to be successful will start making regular sales to a variety of legitimate publishers within six months to a year of starting up. Any longer suggests that the agent(s) lacks experience or contacts in the publishing industry.
