Happy Father's Day.
My 33rd year without one.
When I was little we often went to Kentucky Lake around this time of year. I loved apple cider when I was a kid. There were always roadside stands along the way to the lake selling fruit and cider. I would always try to talk my dad in to stopping. "Um, dad, would you like to buy me a little something?" I asked often enough that my dad turned it in to a joke even when we weren't going to the lake. "That boy always wants me to buy him a little something." Good memories.

am starting to realize I might have to stay offline today -- seeing all the father's day stuff is making me sad.
I do intend to send a father's day email to a little group of my dad's closest friends. one lost a daughter this year in a terrible freak accident. I think I'll call him. I don't know what to say, but I've learned it's better to say "I am thinking of you" than to tiptoe around pretending nothing happened.
