I've been sitting here reading a book and just reached over for my now-cold cup of coffee, and there's a bug in it.

It's just a small bug. A gnat, perhaps, or what my husband calls a mayfly-- I don't know what that is (the thing he calls a mayfly looks like a gnat to me).

I really don't want to make another cup of coffee.

So...

Do I do it?

If you don't want it, you can always give your coffee to me.

But now that I think of it... I'm overloaded with coffee. My hands are shaking and I'm about to throw up.

You can have your protein.

well..do gnats regurgitate when they eat? and did this gnat, if it's a gnat, have time to regurgitate before it died? and do bugs ooze any body fluids as they die or does the cold prevent that? you know, it's all about the backwash.

Okay, definitely not a mayfly. Maybe I meant fruitfly. Hang on, I'll be back. And in the meantime, this seems like a good time to ask... what the heck is your avatar now, Nav?

Actually, I'm really lazy, and it's still sitting here next to me. But I'm tossing it. Made that decision soon as I saw the words "regurgitate," "ooze," and "bodily fluids" in P.H.'s post.

Goodbye, poor dead gnat. Down the sink drain you go!

If you just nuke it for a couple of minutes, then it sterilizes any dead bug goo. Also, your coffee would be hot.

What really surprises me is to see I'm not the only loon that's awake at 2 a.m.

Well... for Aruna its 10 a.m., unless I'm mistaken. But for people of the US its still a obscenely early hour.

Oh, sure, now you come here with your instructions. Ten seconds ago, you might have saved a perfectly good cup of coffee.

On the promising side, now I have tea, and there's a moth in the corner. History could repeat.
