View Full Version : be honest. what would you think of as a Theme Song for yourself?

05-05-2016, 09:06 AM
I don't really know, for me.

05-05-2016, 09:36 AM
I'm counting down to 30, I've accomplished absolutely nothing in my life, and there are times where Jonathan Larson's 30/90 (https://youtu.be/jcXVY9h17cs) starts playing in my head.

They're singing, "Happy Birthday"
You just wish you could run away
Who cares about a birthday?
But 30/90, hey

Can't you be optimistic?
You're no longer the ingenue
Turn thirty, 1990
Boom! You're passe
What can you do?

05-05-2016, 09:38 AM
wow xD

05-05-2016, 10:08 AM
30? Hah - amateur! Try doing nothing by 40! Adam Buxton's Counting Song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXvsl8xgRxc) about sums up my useless life...

As for the soundtrack I carry in my head, I imprinted in the 80's on Beyond the Forbidden Forest (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfbEWXXo8T4) (C64 game) and the theme to Master of Magic (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm5Hjsm5NZ4) (which I never got far in, for lack of healing ability, but that song still pops into my head...)

Also the Arcanum (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LHLAcd14b4) soundtrack.

Restless Heart (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLFulXkuwbc)

RUSH-Subdivisions (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vf8jvSPA3XQ)

Nowhere is the dreamer
Or the misfit so alone

I never fit in so I've made my own place

05-05-2016, 04:46 PM
makes sense to me ^^ I kinda did that when I was growing up in the diff places I lived in...

I got a fever
that I don’t wanna shake
I’m seeing clearer
now my heart will never break
it’s like a speaker
making noises that are keeping me awake

that feels so much like me when I go into art or writing mode xD

05-05-2016, 04:56 PM

"Army of Me" by Bjork, I think. Which might be useful because I have to drive the boyfriend to and from a lumbar puncture on Monday, and even though I know medical technology is advanced now, I am freaking out. It doesn't show, but I am freaking pretty hard.

05-05-2016, 06:02 PM

05-05-2016, 07:10 PM
Um, let's see. Mrs. Robinson? I am the Walrus? Just kidding. Really, I don't know but now I'll be thinking about it.... Great question!

05-05-2016, 10:58 PM
damned fine choice!

05-05-2016, 11:01 PM
Huh, I was just thinking about this yesterday.

I have to go with I Wish by Infected Mushroom. It perfectly encapsulates how I feel about life.

I want to move, to loose, to take the grooves, and to give it all back
I want to take the time rewind, and to kick it right from the start
to be unknown and all alone, lose the kind that are behind
to start a new play by myself and to give the best I have

I'm playing the game
the one that will take me to my end
I'm waiting for the rain
to wash who I am

05-05-2016, 11:02 PM
nice ^^

05-05-2016, 11:33 PM
Two that sum me up in a heartbeat are;

I Am Only One by We Are The Fallen

And We Run by Within Temptation

There's more, but those are what comes to mind.

Nothing to Prove (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4Rjy5yW1gQ) by the doubleclicks is another that truly sums up me and my life

05-07-2016, 06:50 PM
cool ^^

I'm honestly so tired I may try to look for a song about insomnia. I've been up for 27 hours...x.x

05-07-2016, 07:24 PM

How I think everyone sees me... (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ml1WKiIGqf4)

05-09-2016, 01:26 AM
As much as I wish I could rock the dangerous swagger of "Emma" by Alkaline Trio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxpYcuuKvm0), in reality I'm entirely a "Papercut Skin" by The Matches (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipGdk34AG8Q)lady.

Day out, day in
It's the alarm versus me
and the snooze button wins.

I love that writer John Scalzi has a tradition (http://whatever.scalzi.com/2014/08/19/lock-in-by-william-beckett-the-theme-song-to-the-novel/) of hiring writers like William Beckett to do songs for his books (via Downwrite (https://downwrite.com/artist/william-beckett)). Maybe one day, when I'm rich and famous, I'll do the same. :)

05-09-2016, 12:26 PM
um maybe dread in my heart by mother mother (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGJdYxjkVBU)??? "there's a god-awful shitty feeling of dread in my heart / and i can't seem to change my attitude but i can change my shirt / cause y'know how actually at times it can be a good start" idk rly i can't find any exact fits for me but that's as close as it gets :0

05-10-2016, 12:17 AM

05-10-2016, 10:14 PM
pretty good choices ^^
hey darlin, good to see you on here again ^^

06-10-2016, 11:07 PM
It's funny, because I was thinking about this earlier today when I was listening to music and a song came on and I thought "Yeah, that's it. That's me. I hereby dub this MY song!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHBR5G8ttoc&feature=youtu.be
Shake some action, that's what I need
To let me bust out at full speed,
and I'm sure that's all you need
to make it alright

06-10-2016, 11:18 PM
Its a tough call but a cool thread. I might be:

Echo Beach - Martha and the muffins

Tubthumping - chumbawumba

Amy MacDonald - Mr Rock & Roll

06-10-2016, 11:34 PM
One Little Victory by Rush.

Or possibly Let It Be.

I'm honestly so tired I may try to look for a song about insomnia. I've been up for 27 hours...x.x
Since this was two months ago, I hope you're not still up, but there's this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4pqqzFWedc) or this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6XsYyP1QXw).

07-10-2016, 10:05 PM
Well, someone once asked me what song I would want to be playing when I walked into a room (or maybe it was a party), an--I'll always remember this--I said "Busted" by Matchbox Twenty. But only because there's something cinematic about it that would allow for a sort of slo-mo pan from the shoes up to the face, I think? (I have a screenwriting degree, so I tend to think cinematically.) I don't know that I'd call that my theme song, though.

And yes, I know liking Matchbox Twenty is supremely uncool. ::shrug::

The Seeker - I'm not really trying to find anything, I just like looking for it.

07-10-2016, 10:11 PM
Fantomas "Delirium Cordia." The whole album please.

07-10-2016, 11:16 PM
"The Sounds of Silence" as recorded by Simon and Garfunkel in 1964. I liked it when I was 23, even before the irony thirty-odd years later. :greenie

07-11-2016, 08:05 AM
I might think of more, but right now, the one that screams me is "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks. Yeah they overplayed the Hell out of it during the 90s, but looking back, it is a remarkably feminist song, basically saying, "Hey it's not an either/or thing." You can be all cute and girly and rock a princess dress, yet you can still be a kingdom-saving badass, which is a message everyone could benefit from, especially girls.

07-11-2016, 06:24 PM
nice choices people xD

and thanks for the suggestions on insomnia songs, himmyb7 xD

07-11-2016, 09:11 PM
It's a tie between Mumford & Sons - Broken Crown and Imagine Dragons - Demons. Or the Benny Hill Theme. I can see how the last calls the first two into question. No, I don't get it either. But there it is.
