Refilling a Prescription While Visiting Overseas

I was just curious on how that would work?

My MC is a veteran from the UK and he's visiting family in the states. The drugs he's taking are antidepressants. Would he need to visit a doctor or could his doctor from the UK just send over the paperwork to wherever prescriptions are filled?

If it's between Canada and the US, they could probably electronically transfer the prescription, but not from the UK or any other country for that matter. They would need to see a doctor and their medicine of choice might not be available in the US. That said, everywhere I've worked in the US there have been a fair number of physicians from the UK even in small towns so it may be possible to find a sympathetic ear from someone who won't demand a bunch of new tests.
