I saw this youtube video about doing good gestures and passing goodwill along.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PT-HBl2TVtI

Do you guys think beta reading is a good gesture? I know it's a silly question but better ask the question and be silly than to not ask and remain silly for the rest of life?

The reason I posted in this forum is cause I don't think it's serious enough to go in Beta Reader forum but I kinda wanted to get some other perspective on it.

I didn't watch the video, but I'd consider it a good gesture if you're talking about betaing for someone without them betaing something for you.

Not watching the video right now (pressed for time), but it depends on what you mean by betaing.

If you honestly expect nothing from it, no tit-for-tat reciprocal critique or beta, then it might count. It's a real time commitment to do a full, in-depth beta read, though - it's not something to offer lightly, then half-arse because it's "just a goodwill gesture."

JMHO...
