Thinkerbeat Shorties Awards

Prize: US$250
Fee: US$5 (buys you a copy of the anthology The Art of Losing)

These are short story contests. The length is set at 1,000 to 3,000 words, but not strict. The winning stories will go into an anthology at the end of the year. Prize money is set at US$250, paid to your PayPal account. The Entry Fee is US$5 for one story and this buys you a copy of the Thinkerbeat anthology The Art of Losing. Judges will look over stories and give feedback on what they liked and why after prizes are awarded. Prizes may be adjusted based on the number of entrants.

First Round Judges

David R. Grigg: During the 1970s and 1980s, David was deeply involved in the science fiction fan community, publishing fanzines and helping organize SF conventions, eventually becoming Chairman of the 43rd World SF Convention held in Melbourne in 1985. In recent years he has returned to his old love of writing fiction. He is the author of a number of professionally published short stories and two short fantasy novels for teens. He is a retired and lives in Melbourne, Australia.

Christopher Fielden: Chris self-published his first book,Wicked Game, in 2010. To avoid a mental breakdown, he then started writing short stories, as they’re a lot easier to finish. Due to his success with short story writing, he published a book called How To Write A Short Story, Get Published & Make Money. He runs the ‘To Hull & Back’ humorous short story competition. His online list of writing competitions is indispensable to anyone who aspires to be a successful writer. He's also a member of a fabulous writing group called Stokes Croft Writers based in Bristol in the UK.
