Hi everyone,

Back in early November, I sent out an exclusive query to an agent I thought would be a perfect fit for my YA contemporary manuscript. (Yeah, I know. It probably wasn't a very good idea.) It's been seven weeks, and I am wondering how long I need to wait before I begin querying (multiple submissions) again? I never mentioned a time period for consideration.

I have since learned that exclusive querying is generally frowned upon, and I am feeling a bit foolish as a result. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance, you guys.

C.A.

Just send a follow up saying you are withdrawing the exclusive, but the manuscript is still available (and this is a query right? Not a partial or a full?) Then send, and send widely. And good luck. :)

Just FYI, "multiple submissions" is multiple mss (not queries, although can refer to partials) to the same agent/pub. Simultaneous submissions is the same ms to multiple agents/pubs.

Yes, CaoPaux...thank you. I haven't sent out any partial or full yet. This is simply an "exclusive query" that I sent. Such a learning curve!

Thanks, all.
