Whether you celebrate Easter, Passover, Earth Day, Mawlid, or the Glorious Start of Crabgrass Season, you gotta admit baby ducks are cute. That's something most of us can agree on. (Yeah, there's always somebody who bites their little heads off, but I did say most.)

Post your favorite duckling photo here. What, you have no duckling pictures? My god, how do you sleep at night? Sigh... Well, you'll just have to post a kitten, puppy, or baby rabbit photo. But really, you gotta get some ducklings.

When I was a kid, I always wanted ducklings for Easter. Never got them, but I did get some baby chickens one year.

I sleep fitfully and duckling deprived but I can offer this piglet picture I took myself. If the piglet looks a little perplexed, keep in mind it's me he's looking at.

someplace around here, anyone seen my keys?
No ducklings here, either. We have some mallards wandering around but I don't think they raise their chicks anywhere nearby.

I do love this little bunny though.

My rabbit just had three babies today. Will post pictures later.

Meanwhile, how about some baby hamsters:

While we're on the subject of things cute and fuzzy, I saw 24 bunnies today, and wild bunnies at that. Technically, I live in the suburbs, but the country is all around me, literally a stone's throw away. God, I love New York. Everybody who doesn't live here thinks it's one big megalopolis. New York's sylvan self is one of the greatest and best kept secrets in America.

Ducklings---Cute as nifflers, and they won't eat all of your aluminum foil!

Alright, alright, here' your freakin' duckling picture:)

:) She was born on a cold day very unexpectedly. My wife, having no baby horse blanket, made a makeshift blanket by cutting the sleeves off of one of my old flannel jackets. Completely without my permission, of course.

People, please! Not a single duckling has been contributed. I hope I don't have to be stern with you all...

On the other hand, perhaps it's a lack of leadership. I shall try to emulate the fine leadership illustrated in this duckling photograph.

Maryn, who could probably still get her kids to do that

I am not a fan of duckling . . . not enough meet to cook. They can be poached whole, but you only get the wee little organs to eat after that. A delicacy yes, but not really a good meal.

*mmmmm* duckling liver in butter. . . ahhhh. . .

That suckling piglet though, yeah, now that is a meal worthy of a man.

Dog and cat, against all Chinese custom, do not actually make good meals. Too stringy.

If any of you remember, I will re-announce that I did not eat my dog last december. It was close though.

Maryn, I saw these guys this morning--I'd seen the parents before but this is first sight of the newbies. So I took their picture for you. It's not duckling, quite--but close!

Aw too cute.

It s not quite spring here, in fact we are in the tail end (heh!) of dog poop season - that time of the year where the receding snows show exactly what I was too lazy to pick up during the winter - and as such it is still too cool for any feathery babies. The prospective parents have arrived though, and I ve been watching the mallards, wood ducks, geese and herons vie for the best nesting sites. We probably won t get to see any ducklings for another 3 weeks.
