Anyone else seen Mr. Holmes yet?
It caught me by surprise. I knew about the movie, but I had no idea it would be out so soon until I saw a video of Sir Ian McKellen promoting it by reading lyrics from Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars.
We saw it this past weekend and I quite enjoyed it. The only thing I could complain about was that I had a hard time seeing Sir Ian as Sherlock Holmes and getting absorbed in the movie. The believability of it. He's a fantastic actor, but so visible outside of his acting that when he's not all made up like Gandalf, it's hard to truly believe he's someone else when he just looks like himself. But that may just be me. In all, I thought it was a great movie with talented acting, an enjoyable and often tense story that seamless jumps between several storylines and time periods, and gorgeous settings.
