Actually, on further thought, there is. But it's like air. You can't see it. So it only seems like there isn't. Which makes one pessimistic that there is. It's all a matter of faith really. Except, what if my original question was a question of the existance of faith

I have to have faith . . . there's so much around me that's out of my control, faith seems to be the only thing I can count on in those cases.
