Please forgive me if this doesn't belong here. My Dungeons & Dragons players have requested political intrigue in our campaign and my experience with that is small. What are some good reads about this stuff (besides George R. R Martin's works)?

Maybe actual historical stuff would be of more use than fiction? What's your setting like, and what kind of political intrigue would suit your game best?

In science fiction, the Honor Harrington books have a lot of politics - sometimes much more than I'd like.

I know what you mean. I just want to see some good space battles, but first I have to wade through tedious scheming.

As for political intrigue in fantasy, you might try out the Empire trilogy by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts. It's very heavy on the intrigue. It's set in the same universe as Feist's Riftwar saga, but you don't need to read those to get what's going on in these. There are just a few references.
