It's children's book day! In honour of that, my kitten models two of my favourites:

My all time favourite for Picture Book / Illustrated is Jackie Morris' Tell Me a Dragon, pictured below:

My favorite books of all times are the "Harry Potter" series.
When I was a kid I was obsessed with these books.
Actually I still am.

In honor of the book I'm currently reading, Pioneer Girl, I have to say that I always adored Laura Ingalls Wilder's Little House books. Her obsessively detailed descriptions are some of the richest and most atmospheric out there.

Also, shoutout to Harriet the Spy, one of the most complex and fully-rendered characters in not just children's literature, but twentieth-century American literature.

Old person here, the only books I remember from my childhood (that were intended for children) are the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. I started reading adult books when I was in 5th grade.

I loved Sara Crewe and Heidi. Then I got into Stephen King, the White Gold Wielder series and H.P. Lovecraft.

My son and I love all Seuss. We also like Pajama Day, Goodnight Moon and He loves the Percy Jackson books.

We both also read Choose Your Own Adventure books because I kept my collection from my youth.

I grew up on Harry Potter, nothing can compare. The other series I loved when I was a tween was the Georgia Nicolson series by Louise Rennison. Laugh out loud funny!

Wow, this is a hard one. As a kid, I adore the Hobbit... although it's not a children's book. I've only really sat down to read children's literature when I was an adult (irony, huh?). Like many others, Potter takes the cake!

I grew up with Enid Blyton. Loved to read about the Magic Faraway Tree. I still think that book was responsible for my love of quirky stories. But I also love the Narnia Books.

Soooo many. But to scratch the surface:

The Black Stallion/Island Stallion books
The Marguerite Henry books (The Misty series, King of the wind, Justin Morgan etc).
Black Beauty
My Friend Flicka
The Red Pony
Flip
Tumble
The Trumpet of the the Swan
The Yearling
Charlotte's Web
Harry Potter
The Call of the Wild
The Velveteen Rabbit
The Secret Garden
The Incredible Journey
A Wrinkle in Time
The Giver
The Happy Prince
The Fire Cat

There was also a book featuring a red fox and another featuring a red-tailed hawk that I adored, but I can't remember the titles. Anyone remember these from the late seventies?

Admirable lists.

My longtime favorite is Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are. After some chidren's libraries banned it, national librarians eventually voted it a Caldecott Medal.

Ostensibly a subtle insight to tantrum management, I saw the picture book ease some little ones' fears of dark.

One of the first books I recall reading was Hereward The Wake by Charles Kingsley.

My favorite children's book is Winnie-the-Pooh by A.A.Miln.
I've read it like 20 or even more times.
