View Full Version : 2015 Cricket World Cup

02-13-2015, 08:46 AM
The ICC Cricket World Cup starts tomorrow.

I'm barracking for Australia, obviously, but who will we be playing in the final come the end of March? :tongue

02-13-2015, 02:10 PM
Not England!
I fancy NZ or South Africa

02-13-2015, 02:20 PM
England are doomed.

02-13-2015, 03:52 PM
My money's on England. Ian Bell will hit the winning six in the final. It will land in the top row of the MCG and score a direct hit on Kevin Pietersen's open mouth.

02-13-2015, 04:19 PM
^ :D

Eoin Morgan's played some blinders here, he's the one that worries me.

02-13-2015, 04:41 PM
I wouldn't worry about England. Our players are incapable of performing well in any weather conditions that you wouldn't find in Leeds in May (ie 15C with a chance of showers after lunch).

02-13-2015, 08:59 PM
I'm thinking a SA/Aus final. India are rebuilding, Pakistan are erratic and England will shoot themselves in the foot as usual. NZ have a good chance but I reckon it's SA.

02-14-2015, 02:06 AM
Ok... coin tossed, players out, anthems sung......rain.

Are you sure this is isn't in England?

02-14-2015, 02:16 AM
NZ's been playing quite well recently (almost a sign of the Apocalypse in itself) so I have hopes - but I don't want to get too excited. I've always said that there's no-one like the Black Caps for snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

02-14-2015, 02:41 AM
I'm listening to TMS and Aggers reckons that SL are being restrictive more than attacking.

It's not working though...... :D

02-14-2015, 03:05 PM
England dropped Finch third ball :hooray:

Aussies took some top catches :D

James Taylor was robbed :(

02-14-2015, 10:09 PM
He certainly was! I hope that third umpire doesn't do any more games.

02-15-2015, 09:14 AM
England are is doomed.

Editorially corrected for the American readership.

I do hope they have instant replay of tea-time, though.

02-15-2015, 07:30 PM
Australia will dominate, as we should.

02-15-2015, 08:38 PM
Semi-congratulations to Zimbabwe for a great perfomance against SA. They lost but they put up a good fight.

Well done to India too.

02-16-2015, 12:36 PM
Ireland beat the Windies today :) Love the surprises these tournaments spring.

02-16-2015, 12:43 PM
There was a bit of a punch up (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-02-16/four-people-hurt-in-brawl-at-televised-cricket-match/6115262).

Four people were injured when a brawl broke out between cricket fans watching the India-Pakistan World Cup match on television at a Sydney RSL [Returned & Services League] club.

Now that just isn't cricket. :(

02-16-2015, 02:20 PM
Unfortunately, between India and Pakistan, it often is.....

Well done Ireland! That's brilliant news!

02-20-2015, 07:42 AM
Heheh. England has been monstered by Southee. I'd feel bad for them - if I were a better person. :D

Not that I'm not still awaiting our inevitable collapse, but it won't be today.

02-20-2015, 10:14 PM
I'm English and I don't feel bad for them! They are playing like total donkeys and don't deserve sympathy!

02-28-2015, 07:04 AM
kiwis on fire. how long can our number 11 hang around... 24 overs?

02-28-2015, 10:48 AM
That horrified silence echoing from my living room was the sound of a group of people watching the Black Caps free fall back into their natural position of Again, Really?!

Saved by the skin of our teeth. Someone needs to buy Williamson a drink.

02-28-2015, 03:52 PM
It wasn't a long game but it sure was exciting :)

02-28-2015, 09:18 PM
Sounds like it was a mad game! Bouncy pitch?

03-01-2015, 03:43 AM
Don't think it was just the pitch, though there was bounce. More a 20-20 mindset.

That was only the second game we've had televised here on free to air - Australia v Afghanistan being washed out. Non Australia games are on pay tv (which I don't have). Bloody frustrating. How is it being televised in England?

03-01-2015, 03:44 AM
On pay TV only.

03-08-2015, 10:58 PM
I am so pleased for Afghanistan. They have really punched above their weight. Yesterday's game, I didn't think they were going to get to 100 early on. But their number 8 made a hell of a stand!

I've supported them since I saw a documentary on how they got started. Fascinating stuff.

03-09-2015, 03:59 PM
And so the misery is over.......

England are so crap it's embarrassing. But at least now we can't creep our way into the QFs and get slaughtered by India. Saves some pain I suppose.

But well done Bangladesh for their first QF. And to Ireland too.

03-09-2015, 04:05 PM
That was humiliating.

03-09-2015, 04:17 PM
Tell me about it.

And now there's calls for KP to come back..... <sigh> We need to look forward, not back.

03-09-2015, 05:15 PM
I feel strangely relieved. To lose to NZ, Aus and SL and still qualify would have been pathetic.

I doubt Pietersen could come back any time soon. He'll have pulled that many muscles laughing over the last couple of weeks.

03-24-2015, 02:01 PM
Wow what an exciting nail biter in the first semi! Good onya Kiwis :D (Hope you didn't have to listen to Warnie's two bob earlier.)

03-24-2015, 02:21 PM
What an incredible game! Amazed NZ won, frankly - was staring at the telly through my fingers that last over.

Felt so, so bad for the South African team, though. Neither team had ever made the finals before, and to get so close... they would have been worthy winners, so I hope they can feel proud of what they accomplished.

03-24-2015, 05:41 PM
Just saw the result. Was it really tight at the end?

03-24-2015, 06:37 PM
NZ won with a 6 off the penultimate ball of the match (bowled by Dale Steyn)

03-24-2015, 09:16 PM
Wow. That's a great way to win but a bloody awful way to lose.

03-24-2015, 11:47 PM
Yeah, de Villiers was actually weeping, poor guy. Not his fault, he did his best.

03-24-2015, 11:54 PM
Oh bless him.

03-25-2015, 02:51 AM
Morkel was upset too. The reactions were huge, such was the pressure of the game and the importance of the knock out final. Both teams put in everything they had.

Vettori came in late and had to go all out while cold. A couple of runs were squeezed out from swings and misses. Runs needed was always more than balls left. South Africa missed a couple of run outs and catches. It was soooo exciting. The crowd was electric. I was squealing at the telly. (I answered the phone as a catch was dropped when two fielders bounced off each other. Whoaaaaa I screamed, rather than saying hello :) )

03-25-2015, 03:43 AM
Nasty hobbitses stole the precious from South Africa! :D

03-25-2015, 04:06 AM
Does that make the MCG Mount Doom? :D

03-25-2015, 06:36 PM
Can't believe I missed this thread. I only got to watch the highlights of the NZ vs SA game (condensed into 3 minutes) but wish I'd been able to watch the whole thing. The India vs. Australia game begins well after my bedtime here, but I may just have to give up a night of sleep for that one.

03-29-2015, 12:45 AM
Everybody ready for the final?

03-29-2015, 01:30 AM
Yes indeed. Go the Black Caps!!!

03-29-2015, 01:36 AM
C'mon Aussies :D

03-29-2015, 11:01 AM
Oh, dearie dearie dear :(

03-29-2015, 11:06 AM
Oh, dearie dearie dear :(

Australia could have a batting collapse. Anything could happen.

03-29-2015, 11:08 AM
Are we winning something?

03-29-2015, 11:16 AM
Are we winning something?

We haven't lost.

03-29-2015, 02:10 PM
Now we've won something.

03-29-2015, 04:15 PM
So what happened?! Why did NZ only get 183? Good bowling?

03-29-2015, 04:52 PM
I didn't hear the Kiwi innings, but I believe Starc, Johnson and Faulkner fair ripped through the wickets.

03-29-2015, 06:50 PM
Ah. That would explain it! LOL!

03-29-2015, 11:20 PM
Yeah, the Black Caps collapsed. Still, they did well to even get to the finals; they've never done that before.

Congrats to the Aussies! The expected result, but they still deserved it. Just better on the day.
