I'm looking for betas for my YA dystopian novel. I'm currently in query letter hell; however, the book is at a point that it needs betas and I have free time to read for others.
I'm open to reading most genres of any book close to query ready. I'm probably not the right reader for hardcore science fiction or high fantasy; comedy, graphic novels, erotica or police procedures. I'm pretty open though, so IM me and let's see if we connect. Just to clarify I like both science fiction and fantasy, but some of it just fly over my head.
I'm hoping for a month turnaround on betas, as I can turnaround a few books in that time as well.
Here's a ROUGH draft of the query for my novel:
Behind the Compound wall, only girls who pass a series of tests become breeders. When sixteen-year-old Morgan Pyne flunks the physical, she’s told she can never be with the boy she loves. Luc’s father is leader of the Congregation, and disobeying him means death.
To keep them apart, Luc’s father assigns Morgan to patrol duty outside the Compound. She may not be cut out to breed, but she graduated second in her sentry training class and wields a baton with deadly precision. Soon her dreams of marrying Luc get lost in a whirlwind of bloody encounters with rebels.
The rebels claim Luc’s father engineered a plague that killed millions, and he’s set on finishing the job. Morgan’s not sure she believes everything the rebels say but she knows one thing for sure: disease has been practically eradiated inside the Compound. So why hasn’t Luc’s father paid it forward?
Morgan pushes Luc to take action when his father starts executing suspected rebel-sympathizers. Luc’s influence is growing within the Congregation, but with it, grows his ambition. If he doesn’t act against his father soon, Morgan will be forced to pick a side and in all likelihood, her choice will pit her against the only boy she thought was worth fighting for.
THE CONGREGATION is YA dystopian fiction complete at 84,000 words.
