My best friend asked me this the other day. It's such a good question. I didn't even have to think about it to answer.

Mine is T. Rex, Jeepster.

After I answered it, she said "I think whatever song a person picks tells more about them than the type of shoes they wear ... And shoes are very telling."

And now you know why this person has been my best friend for so long.

So, what one song always cheers you up?

While we're at it, what kind of shoes do you wear most often?

Song: The Ramones--"I Wanna Be Sedated."

Shoes: Converse. My favorites (black glitter low-top One Stars) just died, but I still have the purple ones, the ones with graffiti all over them, and the black leather Chucks I stole from my husband.

You didn't mention your shoes, Devil.

Music runs thru my veins, so it's very hard to choose just one song, but off the top of my head, I'd say: Flashlight by Parliament

It doesn't matter where I am, or what's going on in my life, whenever I hear that song, I'll stop, drop and dance a little jig. :snoopy:

Oh, and I mostly wear flats - Unique, colorful, fancy flats. :)
Flashlight is great! :D

I didn't say what shoes I wear. Doc Martens. I have many pairs but have a soft spot for the flowered ankle boots. Today I'm wearing Sun Flower Yellow.

Great choice. Part of why the soundtrack to Times Square is one of the best movie soundtracks ever.

I love him. And Jeepster has been a favorite of mine since I was a knock-kneed, snaggletoothed child.

Crikey. I hate these 'pick one song' things. Like Lavern, I find it almost impossible to pick one. The first that springs to mind though, is The E-Street Shuffle.
As for shoes, the ones I wear most are these, but only because I have to for work. Outside of work, I wear a pair of this type of thing, but mine are older and not available anymore (also they're all one colour).

Vespa 50 Special by Luna Pop. Whenever I start a road trip, I blast this song at full volume and sing along as I pull away.

(For those of you who don't speak Italian, the lyrics basically talk about how awesome it is to forget your troubles and get out of town on your Vespa).

This Is Halloween from the Nightmare Before Christmas is the one song that always puts me in a good mood when I hear it.

I honestly can't think of one song that will always cheer me up. Actually, I changed my mind. "The Sound of Music." Just thinking about that song and the opening notes...Maria on the gorgeous hillside...brings me chills and a smile and memories of watching the movie over and over and over and...over with my sisters.

But...

This is so true. No matter how tired or grumpy I am, when I go to pick up my daughter from school...she's like an energy boost and an endorphin rush all at once.

As for shoes?

Boots. Heels. Boots with heels.

Some flats.

More boots. More heels...

I queued up to buy JEEPSTER on the day of its release way back when.

But for a song that never fails to lift me up, it has to be Cab Calloway and Minnie the Moocher.

Hmm. I have cheer up songs, but they're all for different things.

Feeling worn down, bummed. "Move Along", by the All American Rejects.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d07ZUqvjz4

Sad, grieving. "Sad Songs", by Elton John.

Bored. "Wanderlust", by Abney Park

Lonely. "Porn Star Dancing", by My Darkest Days.

Homesick. "Roll On Eighteen Wheeler", by Alabama.

Anxiety. "Fake It", by Seether

Down on myself. "Fame", by Irene Cara.

Angry, people suck, the world sucks, everything sucks. "Bury Me With My Guns On", by Bobaflex (and just about anything ever made by Metallica)

Hiking boots.
My favorite pair are the ones held together with duct tape.

Video Killed the Radio Star by The Buggles, especially the version that was played live at the Prince's Trust many years back (which sadly keeps getting yoinked off of YouTube, so no linky.)

I also always get my chair-dance on for The Sun Only Shines On TV by a-ha and recently I fell in love with Alleinesein by Wolfsheim.

Does this tell you a lot about me? Well, the first two choices certainly tell you what decade I was thirteen-years-old in...

Oh, and Ecco shoes, because they are comfy and hard-wearing and don't look embarrassing.

Edited to add: Another reason why I love the song Alleinesein -- one which other introverted people can probably relate to -- is the lyrics. I don't speak German, so I looked up a translation one day, and you know what the song is about? How awesome it is to be alone. As in, the guy is talking about how happy he is to have the house to himself and be able to do whatever he wants today. I can relate to that! :D The title actually translates to "being alone".

It depends on why I need cheering up

Motorhead (and friends) doing Born to Raise Hell usually makes me grin like a loon and makes me ready for a night out.

Nothing like a bit of Skynard to mellow me out if I'm stressed.

If I need a giggle, Every Sperm is Sacred, or almost any Python song. :)

And just lately, Pharrell Williams's Happy just makes me smile (and clap)

PS I do love T Rex though. But Bang A Gong is my fave
