Last November, when I was gearing up for the release of my novel, I wrote to Michael Chabon, Amy Tan, and Stephen King to give me blurbs. Chabon wrote back almost immediately to decline but he offered wonderful encouragement. I never heard from the other two and I just thought that was it. This week -- I can't really explain -- Amy Tan just agreed to read the book! And the best news? King has agreed to give me a blurb. Granted, I have met King a few years ago and it's not like I am a complete stranger, but still -- I never expected him to say yes. It's just amazing.

King is one of the best examples I've seen of writers who really do give back to the community.

Congratulations! How cool! :)
Wow . . . King & Tan, two of my favorite writers -- I'll have to buy another copy to see what Uncle Stevie has to say about your book! hehe

OK, I am a jerk. Remember the date I posted that message. OK?

I am a jerk.

:(

But actually, except was one thing everything in that post was true.

Will you still love me?

Doh! That's the third time today I've been caught -- why can't I remember what day it is?? I give up, I'm curling back up with Cell & maybe I'll stop acting like a dim little bulb for awhile.

Oh Raymond, how could you? But if you promise not to do it again, I won't say another word about it. And yes, we still love you.

Everyone, I think we must forgive Raymond this time if he will promise never to say what isn't true again.

That was pretty good, Ray. I was wondering why Stephen never mentioned your name before, but I just blew it off. Thanks for the chuckle. I'll try to remember it the next time I talk to him.

Oh, that's SO mean! And I was JUST reading the William Haskins thread, too, and thinking about how gullible I am...grrr....

For the next 364 days. Then the guardrails go right back up.

I was going to write how proud I was to know you.

Now, after reading the thread, I can do so with a clear conscience.... Excellent joke, Ray. Sucked me right in.
Jeez - first the mods, then Haskins, now this. I really need to cultivate my own garden...

Yay Ray!
I've found that many 'big-name' writers are very approachable when being asked to read another writer's book, even if it's just to say 'sorry, I don't have the time'.

Way to go!

 That's what I get for reading only the OP and not the rest of the thread. Good one, Ray!

Fabulous!

Where do you get their addresses?

I sent an email to a writer once, and she never responded.
