This has never happened to me before. After two (three?) years of working on this novel while querying another one, I re-jigged my query and sent out two emails last night.
One of the agents has been patiently waiting for this one to be finished. She had read my previous YA and loved it, but didn't feel she could place it at the time. But she was kind, and sweet, and encouraging.
I gave her a heads up that my mystery was ready to go, and she responded this morning with a request for a full and a synopsis.
At the same time, I sent a test query to another agency, which is here in Canada and kind of a big deal. That agent requested a full this afternoon. She asked for an exclusive, but of course I couldn't comply and let her know another full was out.
She was okay with the non-exclusive, and asked that I keep her informed if the other agent offered.
This is totally foreign to me. I've never had such quick responses to two queries. It almost makes me afraid to break the spell by sending out any more queries.
I feel like a deer in the headlights of a glorious, bright vehicle of awesomeness and am tempted to spread my arms out and yell, "Taaaake meeeee!"
