I'm not a particle physicist; does anyone remember off the top of their head how many sigma is considered "Take this seriously" territory? (I have it in mind that six sigma is "Yup; this is real," but how good is the ~4.5 sigma they're reporting?)

Between 5-6 is ideal, but 4.5 is a pretty strong signal. The Higgs Boson detection by CMS at the LHC was varied at first but settled on 4.9 - 5.

From the article it sounds like "Needs more scrutiny, but sounds surprisingly promising."
