So, my husband is really having a great time with home automation and we have some really fun movie sound clips for different programmed scenarios in our house.

For example, when anyone drives up, Carol Ann from Poltergeist announces "They're here!" and if you leave any of the exterior doors open, Ash from Army of Darkness grouses "Wassamatter, you raised in a barn? Shut the door." That sort of thing.

So now he's programming a scenario where I can call people to the table - including dimming and raising the lights in the rec room where there's a decent chance someone will be completely oblivious with headphones on, banging away at the drum kit - and we need a sound bite of 6 seconds or less about eating to call in the herd.

We've tried John Belushi heralding "Food fight!" from Animal House but it's really startling. Unpleasant.

Any other ideas?

How creepy do you want to get, because there's always Dr. Lecter having a friend for dinner. (or the fava bean line).

For lighthearted, check out the foodfight scene in Hook. Bangarang!

I would almost say the classic ringing a triangle, like they do for camps, signaling people to come for dinner (or breakfast or lunch)

"As the dining room proudly presents...your dinner."
"It's a leaning tower of cheesa!"

And the goodie I quote whenever I have a basket of rolls. "A toll is a toll, and a roll is a roll. If we don't get no tolls, then we don't eat no rolls."

I believe there's a moment in Terms of Endearment when Debra Winger yells "DINNER!!" That might be too much like the Belushi thing, though.

Don't forget the classic zombie dinner bell: "Brains! Brains!"

Not precisely about food, but we often say it while preparing to dig in... the "Nose dive!" line from the movie "Heavy Metal."

"As the dining room proudly presents...your dinner."

I can picture this as being quite lovely.

Although, at our table growing up, there was a "no singing at the table" rule, and it would be difficult after that.

I'll have what she's having (http://http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=F-bsf2x-aeE).

For awkward dinner fun.

All in the Family: "Bless the meat, damn the skin, open the kisser and cram it in."

I hope that was on topic; it is an Archie Bunkerism.
