thought it'd be cool if there was a thread where we show off our cities!

these are only a few blocks away from my house. if I were 'feeling my oats' I could walk there, even with my disability.

Not what I expected at all. Those are pretty neat.

xD sorry. yeah we don't get to see any REAL horses. I'm a city girl. but there are a lot of horse statues around town, part of this special 'art project' the city commissioned a while back. I tried to get photos of all of them, but I'm missing like three.

Ladyxkaa, those are pretty wonderful.

Oddly enough, I lived in Wichita Falls for about a year when I was maybe four or five. My sister was born there. My only memory of it was I had a little buddy in our neighborhood named JoeTom and we got into lots of mischief together. :D

That's funny, because Toronto had the same thing a few years back with Moose. They were beautifully painted like your horses...same idea. Just all over the city where you would least expect to see a spectacularly painted moose. (-:

it's awesome xD we also have a lot of soldier statues around, a waterfall, some old bridges over a small river, monuments and all kinds of fun stuff. I have to resize and reupload a lot of the pics of them if I wanna post em on here, though xD

I've lived here my entire life, never intending on leaving, either xD I'm pretty terrified of change. took me three years to accept my current house as home so yeah.

It's not exactly a work of art, but I took it myself. It's the only one where the horizon is kind of level.

Tall building (Prudential Tower observation deck). Don't worry, it's enclosed by glass. Completely safe, but ridiculously expensive.

A couple pics of my home town of Elyria, Ohio...
Old court house, long after cupola gone;

Old Presbyterian church who's bells rang the hour with Canterbury chimes;

East Falls of the Black River in Cascade park;

My dystopian sci-fi series is based on my little town, also the county seat.

That's just a couple. Elyria is an old town going back to Heman Ely in 1817. The west end of the strip burned down in the late 19th century. I spent most of my life there. So, like Steven King, I used it in my stories.
A couple more;
St Mary's church & school where wife & I met in 1st grade & later married;

Central park that was livery stable in 1800's (1)

(2), showing East Avenue from main drag as well, known in Victorian times as "cheap side";

Old, quaint, Mayberry RFD sort of town.

Ooh!

ETA Darn, some came up too big! I shall link to them

OK. Here is teh tribute to local boy Percy Shelley. It is called Universe Rising (it rises up and comes down with a gush of water) Often called Shelley's Fountain, or The Bollock

bollock_zps5db8ab64.jpg

Here's a couple of churches -- the first is Doomsday and is supposed to be haunted, second is ST Mary's, dating from 1257 (and not the oldest either). Plague pits are in the graveyard supposedly

doomsday_zps6abfbd06.jpg

St Mary's

And here's Christ's Hospital, a private school set up many, many years ago to help poor boys get an education (it still does scholarships). IIRC it's mentioned in the Prince and the Pauper (the prince sets it up after his experiences)
