In roping I know that wrapping the rope around the saddle horn is called dally or dallying. I seem to remember people using the term Dally Off or Dallying Off too. Is that correct?
We just call it dallying (my husband is a team roper - mostly a header). If the header doesn't tie off in time, we say that he missed his dally. Just a fun little side note...it's usually the thumb that's in the most danger of popping off, though I've only actually seen it happen once. Not pretty!
