Team Roping

In roping I know that wrapping the rope around the saddle horn is called dally or dallying. I seem to remember people using the term Dally Off or Dallying Off too. Is that correct?

Dally off can be the term. It depends upon where in the country you're talking about. I'd say dallying.

Team ropers often are short a finger or two.

We just call it dallying (my husband is a team roper - mostly a header). If the header doesn't tie off in time, we say that he missed his dally. Just a fun little side note...it's usually the thumb that's in the most danger of popping off, though I've only actually seen it happen once. Not pretty!
