One of you kids knows where it is.

I've found a wallet. Ice creams all round!

I hate to cast aspersions, but simply because it has no money in it I'm thinking Rufus might have pinched it. It has a photo of a roman ruin. Also a stamp. Where is it?

You know what else it has? It has receipts from the local bookstore. And a hand-sewn silk frangipani.

Silent Rob

mmm...frangipane.

mccardey
09-16-2014, 01:50 PM
It also has one of those plasters for plantar warts. In fact it's becoming more valuable by the minute. It has a photo of me, and a photo of someone else I have a photo of but I can't remember who they are and I'm not good at faces And it has some credit and debit cards and the business card of my favourite bookshop in Florence.

I remember carrying it in from the car yesterday, with a book by David Glibert (& Sons - fabulous reading so far!) and a set of headphones from Dick Smith's and my notebook and the remote control for my aircon which I had found underneath the front passenger seat in my car. (Don't ask.) And it was lost when I left the house this morning.

Rufus?

Fruitbat

Rufus took it.

Let's go to his house and yank him out by the ears. I mean, talk to him. Yes, just talk. Nicely.

He's probably been sent back in time by his avatar.

Sent back with the wallet.

mccardey
09-16-2014, 02:27 PM
Let's not get bolshy. I just want the wallet back. Or not. A letter saying "We have your wallet. You'll never see it again. You can stop looking." would work just as well.

Rufus? Anyone?

:e2paperba Eh? What wallet? Who's Rufus?

I needed it to buy books for school.

That will do :) It's a really good reason.

We can end this now.

I'll find another wallet, another silk frangipani, another Florentine bookshop.

Rufus is your avi a picture of a real statue?

Rufus Coppertop
09-16-2014, 03:12 PM
I hope so. It's absolutely stunning and you know, the world would be a bit less quirky if it wasn't real.

I'm pretty sure the special effects wallahs at BBC would have made some real ones for Doctor Who.

I hope they do licensed copies at a reasonable price one day soon.

Weird, someone on my facebook just posted about finding a wallet in a parking lot...

Did you happen to drop it in Oregon? Or maybe it bounced?

I'm still on the fence about the reality of the world.I often feel that it's a bit of a dynamic illusion crystallized into being by the totality of the karma of all sentient beings. It's real when you're in it though and you have to work with it and compromise with it. That's my current way of looking at it based on my belief in Buddhism.

I might be able to arrange to teleport the Roman ruin pic back to you. If I can get home from Oregon that is!

I've listened to Ajahn Brahm's Dharma talks which introduced me to Buddhism. Right now, I'm flooding my brain with Eckhart Tolle who has become my spiritual guide.

You know who would be disappointed with you lot? MacAllister would be disappointed with you lot. I'm disappointed with you lot, too - but I'll overlook it *sigh* because I just know that you will do better. Next time.

Or - yanno. Not.

I arrived late and found this wallet on the doorstep with a note........

Oooh! bit rude! Best not show it to Granny.

Rufus Coppertop
09-16-2014, 05:48 PM
Was Rufus involved? Did you get it back?Nah. It was definitely Amy. Unless the wallet was blue, then it was absolutely a bower bird.

On a completely serious note, totally, absolutely serious....

I propose a new sport using our abundance of natural resources down here in this antipodean wonderland.

Spider racing. Basically, we get a clear plastic circuit (or glass if we want to be totally classy) and have a little lure that goes around.

We tie a dunny budgie to the lure and place bets on which huntsman can catch it.

Rufus, I love you to bits but you really need to get a life. :D

ETA: Tying QuickWit to the lure would work better.

ETAA: How can mccardey place a bet when she can't find her wallet?

mccardey
09-18-2014, 12:33 AM
My wallet has been returned and we'll say no more about it. Except that the dunny budgies inside were a dead giveaway. And I want my plantar wart plaster back.

ETA: Thank you, Rufus.
