View Full Version : Vetting Psychology Today

I'm researching female serial killers for a couple of novels, and I've come across some articles on Psychology Today's website. They've been helpful, but how reliable are they? Obviously I will be looking at other sources as well, but I do wonder who else has used this site for research purposes.

Have you used it for research? Do you find it to be a reputable source?

The magazine since the 70s would be semi-respectable, internet-only material not so much. Unless it is an article by (or interviewing) a primary source I would use it more as a jumping off point.

Generally good science, but tending toward the sensationalized view of results and "dumbed-down" conclusions. I'd suggest taking the names of any researchers and studies mentioned in the articles and seeing if you can find the original papers - much more accurate that way.
