View Full Version : My Imaginary Reader

I always kind of wondered why this thread existed. Today, I found my answer.

You see, the "imaginary reader" -- the persona for whom I write all of my books/blog posts/ect -- is actually a real person. My cousin. When I write something, I think "would David read this"? If he would, I keep it. He is an inspiration for my writing in ways he'll never know.

David leaves on a two-year mission for my church on Wednesday night. During that time, he will have limited contact with us. He can write emails and letters once a week, and he gets to phone his mother twice a year, but otherwise he's on his own. He's a brave kid...

By the time David comes home, two years from Wednesday, I'm going to have a printed and polished novel ready to hand him. He provided me with the basic idea for this thing, and by God, I'm going to finish it for him. I've been playing with it for too long.

730 days sounds like forever, but I know better... time to get to work!

Good luck on the missions, to both you and your cousin!

Sat Nam! (literally "Truth Name"--a Sikh greeting)

May both your missions be accomplished.

Awww, that's so sweet! I don't have an ideal reader like that, but I totally wish I did.
