You know, I feel both woozy and grateful to have the age-old question answered.

Alexander Selvik Wengshoel, the 25-year-old artist, was born with a deformed hip and spent years in a wheelchair while going through a series of failed operations. He was finally given his metal hip replacement when he was 21. His hip bone, which he was allowed to keep, was displayed alongside film of the operation as part of his graduation show from the Tromsø Academy of Contemporary Art.

After convincing doctors to let him keep the bone removed during his hip replacement operation, a Norwegian conceptual artist boiled it on "a whim" and then ate the flesh with potato gratin and a glass of wine. He claims the meat tasted like "wild sheep."

What's funny is that when you read the article, the first reaction is "holy hell!" but once you try to pin down why there's anything wrong with it, I for one can't come up with a good reason.

He didn't brown it before boiling it.

Translated.
For a species that is generally disgusted by cannibalism, it sure does get a lot of representation in our entertainment media. That's probably why, actually.

But more importantly, does chicken taste like people?

I'm gonna repeat the same comments I put on Perk's FB post on this.

I would like to think I'd taste like pork, or if smoked, bacon.

And it's hip to be a square meal.

I will also add that I'm now hungry.

According to Issei Sagawa, a Japanese man who was arrested for murder and cannibalism but got off on a technicality, human meat is odorless and "the tastiest of all meats." He did an interview with Vice in 2009. If you do go read that interview, it's pretty gruesome - you've been warned. In another interview he described the meat as soft and odorless, like raw tuna.

Weird, I thought that since our DNA is so close to pigs' DNA, we'd taste more like pork...

Okay, question for any hunters here: what does 'wild sheep' taste like? More useful than comparisons to other meat, does it taste like anything you'd want to taste again? Because I'm thinking that mutton is not exactly flying off the shelves.

Mutton has some similar qualities to pork in terms of flavour. Much more grain to them than pork, hence the comparison.
