"It sounds intriguing, send it in" said the agent

I posted this in my thread in Rejections and Dejections, but since other people have agent announcements in this forum, I figured, what the heck, I'll do it too. Please forgive the redundancy.



21 agencies queried thus far.

I received three rejections Monday, two via snailmail, and one via email.

BUT!

I got an email today from an agency I queried last week that had this to say:

"Allen, I work with X at X Literary Agency. Your book sounds intriguing and we’d like to take a look. Could you send it, hard-copy, to the NY address below."


WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!


And it's a big-time agency, too. PM me if you would like to know who.


P&E gives it "Highly Recommended" as well as "a writer reports they represent very selectively some children's books."



That's my big news! Had to share. I really think my heart stopped beating when I read those wonderful words.

Now, if only they agree to represent it. Drinks'll be on me.

Thanks everyone for the kudos. The agency should have my package today, and I have no idea how long it will take for them to say something--anything, like "We received your manuscript and will be in touch." At least it won't be in the slush pile because it was solicited.

I guess it could take one week, two weeks, a month, who knows? It's only 2,700 words, though, a half-hour read.

Oh well, back to waiting for word.

PS Is it common for me to check my email every ten minutes?

Nothing yet, but that doesn't stop me from checking my email every ten minutes.

I should ready myself for a disappointment since the odds are still stacked against me that they are going to accept it. The fantasizing has been fun, though.
